i've posted this blog on myspace.. 'we' is referred to the eightyfourcube. here goes:
once in a while, people ask. "u guys (84cube) dont do tshirt anymore?". here i would like to announce that eightyfourcube is not making any tshirt anymore until further notice. and here are some of the reasons:
1. the technology is cheap, everyone can produce their own custom tees. so why bother?
2. its kinda the IN things nowadays. i make teeshirt therefore i am cool. we're not interested in that.
3. teeshirt is no longer a medium for expression, but for profits. i miss the old indie day
4. we do have good designer who really puts effort on making teeshirt. not just using downloaded font and repetitive images. sadly, there's only a few of em. and we're so disappointed with that.
5. people can no longer differentiate between art collective and tshirt maker.
gig has a new name, "art event". i organize a gig, put tables for people selling stuff, and i can call it art event! that is why, for some reason i stop going to any 'art event'. it's not that i'm not supporting the scene anymore. i just think that our scene is having a change of direction.
so, before we get sucked into the black hole, we are pulling out. we want people to recognize us as an art collective. like W.S.A, or wooster, or artvsts etc etc. we need a proper platform. if not here, maybe somewhere outside. we will do it.
WE HAVE STOP MAKING TEESHIRT.
